Happy Halloween from a President and a monster!

What a fun day we had after a weekend of Halloween adventures!  We got to start our day at a party full of costumes with friends.

Mr. President.  Stephen wanted to be Obama for Halloween this year.  Yes, this is pretty funny for our family but when a Halloween catalog came this year, we had just taught Stephen about Obama. Well, I guess it stuck because he maintained he wanted to be Obama for months.  He even knows Obama is President of the United States.

Georgie before his costume!
Our friend Krista made these!  Amazing!

The whole party!
After a nap at home we went out with daddy for some good "trick or treating."  Stephen did great with trick or treating.  After trick or treating at his first home Stephen proclaimed "Lets go home and eat it."  Then at one of the only houses that actually asked him what he was (we had been prepping for this all day) he said he was a "good boy!"  Yes, little guy you certainly are!  All four of us had a great time!

Stephen wore this costume last year!

Trying to get all three of my guys.  Georgie just kept looking at daddy and his crazy mask.

All Bundled Up!!!

All bundled up for a walk with Mom!

Carving pumpkins!

We planned for weeks to go to a local fall festival this weekend with TT and Joe to pick pumpkins and carve them with the little guys.  Much to our surprise we got some nasty winter weather and had to settle with pumpkins from Home Depot (which Little S calls "Home de People") and a weekend at home.  Here are some pictures of our fun!

Picking them out!

Excited little guy!

Georgie loved the pumpkins.  He thought they were balls and rolled them around yelling "ball, ball!"

Stephen painted his!

Georgie tried to eat his.

Adults at work.

Steve claimed this was the first pumpkin he ever remembered carving.  Not sure if that is true, but he was proud of his too!

Final product!  What a fun weekend.

A Baby Shower!

The first Sneeringer nephew is on his way!  We are so excited for Erika, Christopher, and Chloe.  It is crazy to think that my little brother is about to be a dad.  Today, we gathered to celebrate Baby Sneeringer!!!  I cant wait to be an aunt to this little guy.

Little Stephen makes a pizza!

Little Stephen has become really interested in cooking and helping around the house. Tonight, he got to help out with his first pizza.  He was very excited and kept calling it "dough pizza."  Even Georgie helped!

The dough.

Adding the sauce.

Spreading it out.

I read a book!

I finished my first book in over a year!  I know, it's embarrassing. I would not originally share my embarrassment as publicly as this, but recently I shared this with some of my other friends who have young children and they all agreed that it is hard to find time to read.  While I love my kiddos, during much of the last year when I was not caring for them or working, I wanted nothing to do but to turn my brain off and move as little as humanly possible during my free time.  The thought of reading a book, well, it just hurt my mind to think about.  That said I think the brain (like a good friend says) is like a muscle and you have to work at it or you lose the information it once had.  I know for me that is definitely the case and I got to the point where I decided that I just had to read a book.  It is no coincidence that this all coincided with my little guy's first birthday.  Anyway, I started with a book that friend raved about, The Help, and what can I say--I loved it!  What a good read and such a great story.  It was easy for me to get through.

So that leads me to something else.  I know I have written about this before but how do other people find time to do things with young kids?  I feel like outside of my guys and work, I really have very little time to do anything else, especially hobbies.  Even running, one of my great loves has been difficult for me to find time to do.  I look at friends who take classes and do all sorts of wonderful activities and I wonder how they manage.  Is it easier if your kids are older?  Do you do it at night?  I wonder how people find the time.  A real goal of mine in the New Year is to do one activity that does not involve my kids or my husband (sorry, Steve) that is just about me.  I am thinking I would like to take some kind of class maybe a photography or cooking class (I am sure my kids and husband can agree that this is much needed!).  So I am putting it out there so that I actually follow through with it.

A busy weekend...

While this weekend did not feel much like fall, we LOVED the amazing weather and the three day weekend.  The highlight of our weekend was checking out the Falls Church Fall Festival, complete with lots of animals.  The boys had a blast and Stephen and I loved being outside and spending the day together.  I was surprised by how much Stephen loved touching all the animals.  We actually went through twice because he wanted to pet them more.  He even picked up a baby chicken, totally against the rules, but he was gentle with them and we quickly put the little guy back in his cage!  We also got to do a hayride.  What a fun day and great weekend.

Let me in!

Finn's Birthday Party.

As I have talked about in other posts, I have a huge family with lots of aunts, uncles, and twenty-one first cousins just on my Mom's side of the family.  We grew up with large crowds and lots of family at all holidays and celebrations.  I feel grateful for all my cousins.  Today, we got to spend some time with one of our favorites for Finn's birthday party!  Stephen loved the attention from his older cousin Emily.

First haircut!

Today both boys got haircuts.  I just could not bare to cut Georgie's hair before his first birthday.  Stephen was an old pro, but Georgie did a great job minus some squirminess!!!
